A letter of introduction

Hello everyone and thank you for the honor and opportunity to be a part of Signal Cartel. I am not very good with words, but here it goes... I have known about EVE Online since 2003, but I was always dissuaded by the fact that everyone just wanted to kill each other and made it difficult to explore and see the all of the graphics the game had to offer. But, after retiring from the Army and just sick to death of WoW, I decided to give it a try about two years ago. After the fall of CVA and Provi, I stopped playing to work on learning CGI and storytelling. But, I kept thinking of EVE Online and came back and just started all over fresh, because I -knew- that exploration is what I always enjoyed most. In the past my focus was in exploring, but my time was split evenly with corporation missions involving high-risk mining for a good portion of the day. Mining is very...(falls fast asleep) “What's in a name?” I am dating myself horribly, but “Cyrus Grissim” is a combination of “Cyrus” from The Warriors and “Grissim” from the 1987 Batman movie. Cyrus is/was my second Intel operator in my long-running career of AD&D. Yes, I'm really old... Returning to EVE and finding the right corporation. When I came back two weeks ago, I knew that flying solo was going to be very lonely, very quickly. I had been looking around on the Inter webs for something that clicked, but just could not find what fell in-line for my needs. Then yesterday, while scanning down a site, I saw this pilot (Alister Graut) and checked him out to see if he might possibly want to kill me like everyone else usually does. The first thing I noticed was the corp emblem and it reminded me of a famous player that I had heard so much about and read about, but couldn't remember who she was. So, I did some research, found the Signal Cartel website and started the application process after reading everything I could get my hands on about Signal Cartel and EVE-Scout. I am just an ordinary, average guy. I am retired Army and interestingly enough, my last duty station was in a Signal Company! And doubly odd (after proof reading this writing), I noticed that “SC” is a term that I've been familiar with since 2005; the Scarlet Crusade server in World of Warcraft. Fate? Kismet? Nyah, just pure coincidence, I'm sure...

Hey there! It's been good seeing you about and asking questions in corp - we seem to have similar play schedules. Burnt out WoW player here too (used to be healing lead in my guild, and quit raiding when my son was born). I'm back to EVE after a long hiatus, and like you I was fascinated with the game for many years before I picked it up. I'm an extremely casual player due to real life demands, but Signal is a great place to hang your hat in New Eden. Welcome!
